Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $1.3 Million Modem & Frequency Converter Contract Award to Support Network Expansion in Asia
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
June 28, 2012--Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL)
announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF
Data Corp., received a $1.3 million follow-on contract award for
satellite ground equipment from an existing government customer. The
order specified two models of Modems and Frequency Converters, which
will be deployed to support a network expansion in Asia.
The CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem and the CDM-700 High-Speed
Satellite Modem were ordered. The CDM-625 combines advanced forward
error correction with DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier® bandwidth
compression for maximum savings. DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier®,
based on Raytheon Applied Signal Technology's patented "Adaptive
Cancellation" technology, allows transmit and receive carriers of a
duplex link to share the same transponder space. The combination of
advanced technologies enables users to minimize OPEX/CAPEX and maximize
throughput/availability without using additional transponder resources.
The CDM-700 is a high-speed modem intended for operation with a range of
multi-port data interfaces. The modem operates in broadcast, circuit
restoration, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications with
exceptional power and bandwidth efficiency. Also purchased were C-Band
and Ku-Band Synthesized Frequency Converters that meet or exceed
industry standards, and can easily be integrated and operated in any
size earth station.
Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech
Telecommunications Corp. said, "We were awarded this follow-on order
based on our field-proven technologies and consistently high level of
customer support."
