MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb 06, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq: CMTL) announced today that its Orlando, Florida-based subsidiary, Comtech Systems, Inc., has received a $1.8 million contract to upgrade a digital over-the-horizon microwave communications system for use by a major international oil company.
The award is for the upgrade, design and delivery of two over-the-horizon troposcatter systems with sites located on an offshore oil platform and a land-based communications center. The system will have a data rate of up to twenty megabits per second (20Mbps), and will be used to carry both digital voice and data traffic. Comtech Systems will be supplying its adaptive digital modem, troposcatter radio system and high power amplifiers, as well as antennas.
