Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Awarded $1.3 Million Satellite Communications Equipment Order from the U.S. Government

MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct 16, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., was awarded a $1.3 million order for satellite communications equipment from a U.S. government agency. The order was for turboIP®-45 Performance Enhancement Proxies, which will be utilized to upgrade an existing satellite communications-based network.

The turboIP-45 Performance Enhancement Proxy was designed to combat the inherent challenges of transmitting transmission control protocol (TCP) over satellite links. The unit provides transparent acceleration of TCP sessions, increasing throughput over satellite links while requiring minimal topology changes. The turboIP-45 is standards-based, supporting the Space Communications Protocol Standard Transport Protocol (SCPS-TP). It provides reliable connection-oriented, end-to-end data transfer for user applications. Available in a 1RU platform, turboIP-45 is deployed globally by government agencies and militaries. Common applications for the product include the enhancement of satellite links for Internet traffic or backbone trunking services.
